Antlions

by Kids Discover

Antlions are so named because their larvae eat mostly ants. Some species’ young are nicknamed “doodlebugs” because they leave trails that look like squiggles while digging funnel-shaped pits to trap prey. When it’s done eating, the antlion just flicks the carcass out of its pit.
