Lighthouse of Alexandria

Completed around 280 BC, the Lighthouse of Alexandria stood on Egypt’s island of Pharos, guiding ships into the busy harbor. At night, a tube fed fuel up to the beacon fire at the top. In daytime, the beacon was a mirror that reflected sunlight.
