In 2005, the Cassini spacecraft detected icy plumes spraying from the south pole of Enceladus (en-SELL-ah-dus), an inner moon of Saturn. Scientists think saltwater below the surface gets forced up through cracks and freezes, spewing long ribbons of ice particles into space.
