Finding the Third Pole

The Tibetan Plateau is called the “Third Pole” because it holds more snow and ice than anywhere but the North and South poles. Covering about 1.6 million square miles over eight Asian countries, it contains the world’s highest mountains and is the source of 10 major rivers.
