Pink Hutt Lagoon

Hutt Lagoon, a salt lake in Western Australia, holds the world’s largest microalgae farm. The water is pink because the algae contain pigments called carotenoids. One of these, beta-carotene, makes carrots orange and is used in vitamin-A supplements and food coloring.
