Speediest Shark: Shortfin Mako

The shortfin mako shark is the world’s fastest, zipping along at up to 43 mph. Found in tropical and temperate waters, it has a rare ability to raise its body temperature higher than the surrounding water. It can also leap up to 20 feet in the air — sometimes into boats!
