Sunken City Treasure: Heracleion

Once a key trade harbor and site of the temple of Amun, ancient Heracleion (called Thonis by the Egyptians) sank around 8 AD. The city was found in 2000 by French archaeologist Franck Goddio, whose team is still studying the trove of well-preserved artifacts and structures.
