Ultrasonic Boom

Humans can’t hear the ultrasonic mating call of the tiny Colombian bushcricket, but to other bushcrickets, also known as katydids, it is loud — as loud as a power saw or diesel truck. Male bushcrickets produce the sound by “stridulation,” or rubbing their wings together.
