Happy New Year! Pasadena, California’s first Rose Bowl football game was played on January 1, 1902, long before its namesake stadium was built. Held on Caltech’s campus, it was a 49-0 win for the University of Michigan against Stanford. The Rose Bowl stadium debuted in 1923.
