Kelp Forests

Kelp forests are the rain forests of the oceans. A huge variety of animals find food and shelter in the leaves or the holdfasts, root-like structures that anchor kelp to the sea floor. These large brown algae thrive in cold coastal waters and can grow up to 18 inches a day!
