Did you know? Over one-third of the land on our planet is used for farming and ranching. This is a picture of 650 square miles of Amazon rain forest taken from a NASA satellite. The left side is what the area looked like in 1975. The right side is what that same area looks like today. Here’s what the NASA Earth Observatory had to say about this: “Settlers cleared the area by first cutting and then burning the forest.
