Teen’s App Tests Water

At 17, Alison Dana Bick has created a smartphone app that can tell if water is safe to drink. Colilert-18, a common testing agent, turns yellow when mixed with bacteria-polluted water. The app works by analyzing the intensity of yellow in a photo of water treated with this agent.
