Carn Menyn in the Preseli Hills

1990s, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK — This hillside of shattered rocks is the home of the famous bluestones; So-called because when wet they take on a blue hue. Eighty in all, weighing over four tons each, they were quarried from these mountains and then transported by Bronze Age man nearly 200 miles to Salisbury Plain and Stonehenge. — Image by © Homer Sykes/CORBIS
