Fake Tree History

Real or fake, Christmas trees are a holiday tradition. One early type of artificial tree from late-1800s Germany used bird feathers dyed green to look like pine needles. Around 1930 in the U.S., the Addis Brush Company began making fake trees that sported green brush bristles.
