Black and Blue Moons

Since the moon takes 29 days to complete a cycle, we sometimes get two new moons in one month. Some astronomers call that second new moon a “black moon.” Like a blue moon (the second FULL moon in a month), a black moon happens only about once every 2.5 years. (Era Pictures / Shutterstock)
