Webbed fingers or toes are a common birth defect known as “syndactyly” (sin-dac-til-lee). The mildest form is simple syndactyly, where just the skin is joined — like Ashton Kutcher’s toes. The most severe type is complex syndactyly, where the bones are stuck together.
