Massive Mid-Air Explosion

In the 1908 Tunguska Event, a massive space rock hurtled through Earth’s atmosphere and exploded about five miles above a forest in Siberia, Russia. It flattened hundreds of acres of trees but left no impact crater, because most of the asteroid burned up in the mid-air blast.
