Your ears are self-cleaning! Earwax, or cerumen — a sticky mixture of sebum, dead skin cells, and waxy stuff from special sweat glands called ceruminous glands — traps dirt and bacteria. The earwax slowly flows to your ear opening and dries up, then falls out.
