The French Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Sculptor Auguste Bartholdi designed it, and the supporting structure was devised by engineer Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel who later created the Eiffel Tower.
