Islands of Coral

An atoll is a ring-shaped coral reef with a lagoon in the middle. Since coral only grows in tropical waters, atolls are only found in the Pacific and Indian oceans. Earth’s northernmost atoll is Kure Atoll in the Hawaiian islands.
