Inventing Silly Putty

Engineer James Wright created Silly Putty during World War II, while trying to make an inexpensive substitute for synthetic rubber. A few years later, businessman Peter Hodgson noticed the “nutty putty” was a hit during a party and decided to market it as a toy.
