Really Big Bees

The world’s largest bee was first spotted in Indonesia in 1859 by British explorer Alfred Russell Wallace — but the furry black “Wallace’s Giant Bee” wasn’t seen again until 1981! Females are bigger, with a 2.5-inch wingspan and giant jaws for building nests.
