Happy International Women’s Day
It’s hard to believe that just about 100 years ago, women couldn’t own property, vote, sit on juries, or keep their children if they divorced. Suffragists like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony kept the topic of women’s rights in the public eye with marches, protests, and well-organized campaigns. The legacy of their work continues today.
On International Women’s Day and throughout the rest of Women’s History Month this unit offers your students:
- A timeline of the history of women’s suffrage
- Profiles of suffragist icons, like Victoria Woodhull, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Sojourner Truth, and more
- An honest look at the work that still needs to be done
