Today, September 30th is International Podcast Day. Over the past few years, they have become a huge part of my daily routine. Whether it be during my commute or while I’m making dinner, I like to maximize that time by listening to something new. “What podcasts are you listening to?” is a constant question among family and friends. While there are so many great options about the classroom, here are some of my favorites that you may want to consider listening to, in no particular order…
The Cult of Pedagogy:
Everything in the world of education is up for discussion in this extremely thought-provoking podcast. Learn about new classroom strategies and how to address social issues with your students. Accompanied with each episode are write-ups so you can print and keep notes close at hand.
House of #EdTech:
The landscape of teaching is shifting more and more to a digital world. Nowhere is that more true than in the year 2020. In this podcast, you’ll hear about up-and-coming technologies that could potentially make a huge impact in your daily classroom. Learn about the latest tech tools, implement project-based learning, or add social media to your digital repertoire.
The 10-Minute Teacher:
Your time is sacred! Between grading, prepping for your next lesson, or everything else on your plate, I know you may not have time to listen to a full 30 plus minute podcast. This podcast is exactly as titled, 10 minutes! With episodes five days a week, you’ll hear a wide variety of topics including motivational, tech, research, and practical ideas.
Truth for Teachers:
What I love best about this wildly popular podcast is the community that is behind it. Not only will you find extremely relevant episodes, but also classroom printables and teacher resources to help take some things off of your plate.
The Creative Classroom:
Creativity is one of the most amazing abilities that your students have. In this podcast, you’ll be introduced to practical ideas to help harness and grow that talent. On top of that, how to implement these tips in both the digital and hybrid classrooms is emphasized.
I know asking teachers to do one more thing can seem like a big ask. Still, I invite you to expand your horizons and try adding a new podcast to your rotation. You never know how positively it can impact your classroom and practice. Happy listening!
