A Car-Less Highway: Michigan’s M-185

Michigan’s M-185 is the only U.S. state highway that doesn’t allow motor vehicles. It’s on Mackinac Island in Lake Huron, in a town where automobiles have been outlawed since 1898. Residents and tourists get around by walking, biking, or old-fashioned horse power.
