A rare but serious illness in children, Reye’s syndrome can occur when a kid takes aspirin while infected with a virus such as chickenpox. The Centers for Disease Control warned of the danger in 1980, when 555 cases were reported. By 1994, it was down to about two per year. Pictured here is a histopathology of a liver with Reye’s.
