An Owl That Digs

Burrowing owls dig their own nests or use dens dug by other animals. Unlike most owls, they’re more active during the day, hunting mostly small mammals and insects. Though small, they can make a big racket: Babies even mimic rattlesnake sounds to scare off predators.
