What Causes a Side Stitch?

by Kids Discover

A side stitch is that sharp feeling just below the rib cage that can happen when you’re running. It’s caused by a cramp in your diaphragm that forms due to the up-and-down motion of that muscle and internal organs. Slowing to a walk usually helps get rid of the pain.
