Craters of the Moon on Earth

Idaho’s Craters of the Moon Lava Field was formed over thousands of years by eruptions that spread lava across more than 600 square miles. In 1969, some Apollo 14 astronauts visited it to learn more about volcanic geography while training for future trips to the moon.
