Ice in the Tropics

The Quelccaya Ice Cap is the world’s largest tropical glacier. It’s one of Peru’s 18 mountain glaciers, which make up 70 percent of Earth’s tropical ice mass. Also found in Chile, Bolivia, and Ecuador, these glaciers are key sources of water for drinking, farming, and power.
