The global ocean conveyor belt is a system of deep thermal currents and wind-driven surface currents that keeps the oceans in motion. Cooler, denser water in the North Atlantic sinks to the bottom and flows to Antarctica. It slowly returns to the surface, and the cycle goes on. (NASA)
