At 43, John F. Kennedy was the youngest elected U.S. President, taking office in 1961. But Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest to become president, assuming the job at age 42 after William McKinley’s 1901 assassination. Ronald Reagan was the oldest, elected in 1980 at age 69.
