In July 2014, NASA’s rover Opportunity broke the record for off-Earth distance driving. It had traveled more than 25 miles around Mars. Not bad for a vehicle designed to go less than a mile! The previous record-holder was the Soviet Union’s Lunokhod 2 moon rover. (NASA)
