The Colosseum in Color

Most of the seating in Rome’s Colosseum was white marble, but archaeologists found that a hallway leading to the outdoor theater was filled with color. A cleanup project revealed paintings done in red, light blue, green, and black — plus graffiti left by gladiator fans.
