The Skull and Its Bones

A human skull contains 22 bones. Eight of them surround your brain and form the cranium, while another 14 make up your face. The seams where the cranium bones come together are called sutures. These areas are more flexible in children but lock together as a person grows. (Akawath / Shutterstock)
