Where Weather Happens

The troposphere, the lowest part of Earth’s atmosphere, is where all weather takes place. Just above it, the stratosphere contains the ozone layer, which protects us from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. Both were discovered and named in 1902 by French meteorologist Léon Teisserenc de Bort.
