Why Babies Drool

by Kids Discover

Babies start to drool at around three months old, because the parotid glands, which produce saliva when you eat or chew, mature at that stage. Chewing stimulates saliva production, but babies can’t control their saliva very well, so it just rolls out of their mouths.
