Supporting Emergent Readers and Beyond

Over the past 7 years, I’ve had the joy and privilege of building and growing the Kids Discover Online platform.

Since our initial launch in 2016, we’ve rolled out a myriad of new features, each and every year. Some of the biggest releases include a customizable assessments tool, in-article quizzes, single sign-on solutions with Google, Clever, and ClassLink, over 100 new Units of study, interactive vocabulary activities, and most recently, a growing library of narrated videos.

Our 3 Lexile ® Reading ranges have proved to be of particular value to educators and students. These leveled texts are an essential aid in helping educators implement differentiated instruction for students at varied reading levels. They also ensure our online articles are age appropriate for learners across Grades 3-8.

But what about your youngest learners? Supporting Emergent Readers and Beyond

Our KD1 and KD2 Print Titles have long been popular amongst our community, but have never been available digitally. That is, until now.

A preview from Kids Discover’s upcoming Unit on U.S. Geography, written and designed for learners in 2nd Grade.

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our new K-2 reading material on Kids Discover Online! This expansion of our online platform is a result of feedback and requests from educators and parents all across the country who have been looking for engaging and age-appropriate content for their youngest learners.

At Kids Discover, we understand the importance of early education in shaping a child’s future. We have designed our new K-2 Units to be visually appealing, interactive, and easy to navigate, with content that aligns with the curriculum standards for these grade levels. We believe deeply that your K-2 learners will love this material.

The new section will feature a variety of topics that cover science, social studies, and language arts. Our science topics will cover areas such as animals, weather, and physical science. In social studies, we will be exploring topics such as community helpers, holidays, maps, and American History. And of course, as with all material produced by Kids Discover, these nonfiction texts will be instrumental in developing early reading comprehension and close reading skills.

In addition to the articles, the new K-2 Units will also include interactive features such as quizzes and videos that will help reinforce learning and add some fun to the reading experience. Teachers will also be able to access a select amount of lesson plans and activities that they can use to extend the learning beyond the online platform.

This new K-2 material will be available for the start of the 2023-2024 school year, and will be included in all paid plan subscription plans to Kids Discover Online.

We are committed to providing the best educational content and tools for children in elementary and middle school, and we look forward to continuing to grow and expand our platform in the future.

Thank you for being a part of the Kids Discover Online community, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us, we’d love to hear from you!

Sincerely,

Ted
