Denali, also known as Mount McKinley, is the tallest mountain on the North American continent. Its peak is 20,320 feet above sea level, a full 18,400 feet above the base. (Mount Everest rises “only” 15,000 feet above its base.) The state’s mountain peaks are also the sites of the coldest temperatures in the United States.
